SUMMARY:How to Fix Library Advocacy
LOCATION:NORWELD\, 181 1/2 S. Main Street Bowling Green\, OH 43402
DESCRIPTION:<p>Something is wrong in library advocacy and it has been wron
g for decades. There is a vast disparity in what library workers believe i
s advocacy and what political advocacy actually does. This is especially c
oncerning considering libraries have lost nearly 20% of voter support betw
een 2008 and 2018 and are currently being attacked through book banning ef
forts\, local and state legislative issues\, and Trump's attacks on the IM
LS\, Library of Congress\, NARA\, and DOD libraries. So where did we go wr
ong\, and what do we need to do to fight back and win? Where do we need to
change our political advocacy strategies and tactics to reclaim our indus
try and rebuild political support from voters and legislators? It can be d
one!</p>\n<p>In this session\, all levels of library workers will learn: *
The real definition of political advocacy * The difference between strate
gy and tactics * What is a theory of change * The tools\, messages\, and r
esources you need to prevail</p>\n<p>Presenter: Patrick \"PC\" Sweeney is
