 </p>\n<p>The Elting Memorial Library is proud to host the fourth installme
 nt of the ninth season of Next Year's Words\, a New Paltz reader's forum! 
 This reading series features writers from the Hudson Valley\, occasional g
 uests\, and an open mic. The event can be attended in-person in the Steinb

 communities. We aim to mix young and seasoned voices\, juxtaposing works o
 f fiction\, poetry\, memoir and nonfiction from different stages of life.

 </p>\n<p>Learn more about this months speakers!</p>\n<p>Ann Lauinger has p
 ublished 3 books of poetry: Persuasions of Fall (winner of the Agha Shahid
  Ali Prize)\; Against Butterflies (a finalist for the Eugene Paul Nassar P
 rize)\; and Dime Saint\, Nickel Devil (2022). Her poems have appeared in A
 limentum\, The Cumberland River Review\, Georgia Review\, Lightwood\, Parn
 assus\, Plant-Human Quarterly\, Smartish Pace\, The Southern Poetry Review
 \, Valley Voices and Zone 3\; such anthologies as The Bedford Introduction
  to literature\, In a Fine Frenzy: Poets Respond to Shakespeare\, and A Sl
 ant of Light\; and been featured on Poetry Daily\, Verse Daily\, and Marth
 a Stewart Living Radio. She is professor emerita at Sarah Lawrence College
 \, where she taught medieval and Renaissance literature. A member of the S
 lapering Hol Press Advisory Committee\, she lives in Ossining\, New York.<
 /p>\n<p>David Appelbaum is Professor Emeritus of Philosophy\, SUNY-New Pal
 tz. He has published many poetry and philosophy books. Some of his poetry 
 titles include Everyday Spirits\, Notes on Water\, Portuguese Sailor Boy\,
  Collector of Lapsed Times and Otherwise in 2 (2022). He founded the liter
 ary small press Codhill Press\, and for 10 years was editor in chief of Pa
 rabola Magazine.</p>\n<p>Violet Snow is a fiction writer\, memoirist\, and
  freelance journalist\, often writing about history and ancestors. Her art
 icles have appeared in the New York Times &ldquo\;Disunion&rdquo\; blog\, 
 Civil War Times\, Woodstock Times\, American Ancestors\, The Record of Ber
 gen County NJ\, Jewish Currents\, and other periodicals. Her fiction and m
 emoir have been published in Otter Magazine\, Pilgrimage\, Tinker Street\,
  and the podcast series &ldquo\;The Strange Recital.&rdquo\; Afternoon of 
 a Sadhu is her memoir about wandering through India on foot at age 22. The
  feminist journal Minerva Rising printed an excerpt from her historical no
 vel\, To March or to Marry\, about suffrage and women's clubs in the early
