anic Garden Foundation will host a FREE Garden Discoveries event\, &ldquo\
;Mystery and Ecology of Trees\,&rdquo\; led by Alec Baxt\, Certified Arbor
ist and Tree Consultant.</p>\n<p>Unlike us\, trees are stuck in place\, ye
t they stand exposed to the natural elements for years\, sometimes generat
ions. While we can move and take shelter\, trees stay in place subject to
daily cycles\, annual ebbs and flows and unpredictable of extremes. Trees
have much to teach us about how they survive facing forces of earth\, wate
r\, wind and fire. Learn how trees work and meet their needs and change th
e outer world they live in.</p>\n<p>Alec Baxt has been a Certified Arboris
t for over 20 years\, with a range of experience in the public and private
sectors along with research collaborations in South America and Africa. H
e does hands on tree care\, consulting and teaching in Baton Rouge and New
York.</p>\n<p>Weather permitting a tour will follow of the Baton Rouge Bo
tanic Gardens adjacent to the Library.</p>
