 egiment during the Civil War. In this compelling work\, Imhoff illuminates

 r />Maurice Imhoff is a Michigan historian dedicated to uncovering and sha
 ring the stories of the state&rsquo\;s African American Civil War soldiers
 . He co-founded the Jackson County Michigan Historical Society and has wor
 ked with the Smithsonian National Museum of American History\, collaborati
 ng on projects within the Divisions of Cultural and Community Life and Pol
 itical and Military History. Through his writing\, lectures\, and communit
 y work\, Imhoff continues to honor the legacies of those whose courage hel
