DESCRIPTION:Oakland County was an important geographical destination for f
 reedom-seekers seeking assistance and refugee while traveling along the Un
 derground Railroad in Michigan. Professor Rochelle E. Danquah will lead a 
 conversation about the role county residents played to support the antisla
 very and abolitionist causes in the nineteenth century.\n\nDanquah is a me
 mber of the Michigan Freedom Trail Commission and was the past Director of
  Education for the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. S
 he has done extensive research on slavery\, resistance\, and Underground R
 ailroad activism in Michigan\, concentrating primarily on Oakland County a
 nd the surrounding areas. Currently\, she is completing a PhD in History a
 t Wayne State University and the collection material manager at Greenmead 
 Historical Village (Livonia\, MI).\n\n\nPresented in conjunction with June
