LOCATION:East Baton Rouge Parish Library\, 7711 Goodwood Blvd. Baton Rouge
 \, LA 70806
DESCRIPTION:<p>Join us in Conference Room 2B for a lecture and video prese
ntation by Historical Guest Lecturer\, Eddie Vaughn titled \"250 Year Ago
-- October 1775\"&nbsp\; This lecturer is part of our day <em>Talkin' abou
t a Revolution </em>America 250 celebration and LPB partnered introductory
screening of the latest Ken Burn's documentary:&nbsp\; <em>The American R
evolution: A film by Ken Burns\, Sarah Botstein and David Schmidt.</em></p
 >\n<p>By the age of four a very young Eddie Vaughn was completely immersed
in the historical world. Endless stores of the past\; the great adventure
rs of historical figures\; walking historical locations were daily events
for a developing mind. With his grandfather leading the way\, and two uncl
es hauling him to college history classes\, Vaughn was hooked. He played w
ith scale Civil War sets\, dressed in WWI surplus equipment and there was
lots of imagination to add to his idea of fun. With such influences it was
impossible to not become a student of the past.</p>\n<p>Over time\, Vaugh
 n&rsquo\;s &ldquo\;love&rdquo\; of history remained while a second &ldquo\
;love&rdquo\; for sports was added. Utilizing his basketball skills\, Vaug
hn pursued a double major in History and Social Studies/Education at South
eastern Louisiana University while playing collegiate basketball. Vaughn t
hen went on to complete a Masters degree in Secondary Education with a min
or in history from Louisiana State University. In order to further develop
ment of his two &ldquo\;loves&rdquo\; he then went to Mississippi State Un
iversity to pursue additional education in both History and Educational Ad
 ministration.</p>\n<p>Throughout a more than 40 year working career\, Vaug
hn has never ventured far from his two &ldquo\;loves&rdquo\; -- history an
d sports. Called a natural teacher by the likes of university professors a
nd students\, Vaughn has taught countless individuals at both the secondar
y and post-secondary level about both history and basketball.&nbsp\;</p>\n
<p>Vaughn continues to teach the subjects he &ldquo\;loves&rdquo\; at ever
 y opportunity presented to him</p>\n<p>&nbsp\;</p>
