Pauline Viardot was an accomplished pianist\, a world-renowned me zzo-soprano\, and a talented composer who studied with Franz Liszt\, yet V iardot&rsquo\;s name is largely unknown today. In their dual recital\, pia nist Charlotte Hu and soprano Raquel Gonzá\;lez re-introduce Viardot to her rightful place alongside the greatest of Romantic composers\, nota bly her friend and colleague Fré\;dé\;ric Chopin. Their progra m spans solo piano works by both Chopin and Viardot\, Viardot&rsquo\;s pia no-and-voice arrangements of Chopin&rsquo\;s mazurkas &mdash\; which Chopi n himself advised on and was pleased with &mdash\; and some of Viardot&rsq uo\;s own original songs for soprano and piano.
